Network Security
1.) There are many different kinds of Network security. These kinds of security all protect a different area of the network or the computer, or sometimes different components of the computer. They include, but are not limited to: data security, access security and physical security.
2.)a) Data security is security that protects data, e.g a database from malicious viruses and users who may steal or spread private data.
b) Access security is the restriction of users to access or open a certain component of the computer or network. This could be anything, from one website or a set of websites, to a file or document.
c) Physical security is security that is out of the computer or network that protects the physical hardware of a computer from being damaged or stolen by malicious people. These can be something simple like a locked door, or something more complex like a series of cameras.
3.) There are many examples of when these kinds of security could be used in the school network. The most obvious one is physical security. The door could be locked that leads into an IT room, so people with malicious intentions cannot come in and vandalize the computers. Access security can be used to prevent people getting onto disturbing or inappropriate websites, e.g screamer websites. Lots of students store lots of files on the computers and data security will help them keep it safe.
